World Bread Hero Award Scotland
On Tuesday 19th October 2021 at 6.30pm, my family and I gathered together in front of the computer and tuned into World Bread Awards Heroes on Youtube. It was nail biting and exciting to watch, they took so much care to give every business the time and credit they deserve. They selected bakery businesses from all across the UK and when it came to Scotland our nerves went up...and then they announced that we won. I couldn't believe it, it was just incredible. I am still blown away and feeling speechless.
The nice thing about online celebrations is that we could all take part, Calvin could be even there and enjoy it. Even friends and family from abroad watched it live. After the Youtube presentation had finished, we celebrated a bit more but it had to be an early night for me as I had a full on day baking the next day. When I am in the factory and baking our Coconut Flat Bread Rolls, I am away from my phone and all forms of social media and etc. so to my big surprise there was flurry of chatter and shares online about our win when I finished in the evening. I am still catching up and thank you to everyone who has sent me such kind comments.
As an awards trophy, we received an engraved wooden board made from English Oak. It is absolutely beautiful and already has a special place. The award was sponsored by Tiptrees and Brook Food.
We also received lovely newspaper articles on the Scotsman website (by Rosalind Erskine) and on Edinburgh Live (by Kris Gourlay).
